A prominent magazine recently included the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra on its list of the best inventions of 2026, highlighting the phone’s Privacy Display feature.
Privacy Display acts as a privacy screen protector that limits the screen’s viewing angles and, so far, remains exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The feature is controllable through One UI: users can enable Privacy Display across the entire screen or hide select areas, and they can adjust how it behaves.
Security and privacy have become larger concerns in the digital age, and Samsung is, according to the list, the only smartphone maker actively promoting and developing display technologies that empower user privacy.
Despite years of engineering and going on sale months before the iPhone Duo, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 did not make the list; it was mentioned only in passing as the iPhone Duo’s closest rival. Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, and the iPhone Duo were responsible for Apple’s appearance on the list, and no other Apple products were mentioned.

Privacy Display narrows viewing angles to protect on-screen content and integrates with One UI controls. Users can apply the effect across the full display or selectively hide areas, giving direct control over the feature’s behavior.
32-inch Odyssey G8 (G80HS)
The list also included Samsung’s 32-inch Odyssey G8, identified as the industry’s first 6K gaming monitor. The Odyssey G8 uses an IPS panel, delivers 224 PPI, supports a 165Hz refresh rate in 6K, and offers a Dual Mode that enables up to 330Hz at a 3K resolution.
Bespoke AI Family Hub with Vision AI
Samsung’s upgraded Bespoke AI Family Hub with Vision AI was named for bringing new smart capabilities to the refrigerator. Samsung’s first Bespoke refrigerator with built-in cameras launched in 2024; those cameras could recognize some foods but required users to keep logs manually. Earlier this year, Family Hub with Vision AI incorporated Google Gemini AI and gained additional smart features.
