Galaxy S27 Codenames Shift to Orion After New Battery Listing

A trade data listing for the Galaxy S27 Pro battery names an internal codename of Orion3, suggesting Samsung has switched the internal codename scheme for the Galaxy S27 series.

The battery in the listing carries model number EB-BS957CBY, a number associated with the Galaxy S27 Pro that has already appeared in India’s BIS certification database. The Orion3 reference implies Samsung could be using Orion1, Orion2, Orion3 and Orion4 for the Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro and S27 Ultra, respectively.

Previous reported internal codenames for the lineup included New Miracle, Next Miracle and Trinity; the new listing indicates another change in the naming convention.

Galaxy S27 codename context and corroboration

One possible explanation is that the Trinity codename made sense when the range was expected to include three models, and Samsung may have adopted Orion as the company prepared four flagship models. That explanation is speculative and not confirmed. A report from GalaxyClub was also cited as corroborating the use of Orion codenames for the Galaxy S27 lineup.

Beyond codenames, reports indicate the Galaxy S27 series will likely ship with stable One UI 9.5. Rising memory and chipset costs are noted as potential reasons for price increases, and Samsung may reintroduce 8GB RAM configurations for the base Galaxy S27 and S27+ after the previous models offered 12GB — none of which is confirmed.

The Galaxy S27 series could launch earlier than usual, with reports pointing to a January 2027 unveiling; if plans change, a February launch is a possibility. So far, reports suggest the launch will not be as delayed as the Galaxy S26 series.
