Galaxy SmartTag 3: Clear renders reveal new squircle design

High-resolution press renders have provided the clearest look yet at the Galaxy SmartTag 3, confirming a new squircle design, availability in two colors, and several hardware and accessory details ahead of a possible launch within the next few weeks.

Design and accessories for Galaxy SmartTag 3

The images show a squircle-shaped tracker, a notable change from the pill-shaped design used previously. Most of the front appears finished in silver with a prominent Samsung logo. The rear carries mandatory regulatory and certification markings and a small pinhole that allows the coin-shaped cell battery to be swapped out.

Samsung has dropped the SmartTag’s built-in cutout for keyrings, carabiners and straps. Instead, the company appears to be moving to an external case approach with an integrated carabiner clip, an approach comparable to that used by another major tracker. Reportedly, Samsung will offer bumper, leather and silicone cases. Third-party accessory makers such as Spigen are also said to be preparing cases, including a mount intended for pet collars.

Specs, connectivity and pricing

Public filings have confirmed the Galaxy SmartTag 3 includes both Bluetooth LE and UWB connectivity. The tracker measures 30 x 30 mm and is under 10 mm thick.

Reports indicate the Galaxy SmartTag 3 could launch within the next few weeks, with a suggested single-unit price of $30 in the US and €28 in Europe. A four-pack is reported to be priced around $100 in the US and €93 in Europe.
