Galaxy Z Fold 8 sales rise 30% in US, Fold models dominate purchases

Samsung revealed that combined sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 models in the United States are consistently tracking 30% above last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 market share and pre-orders

The company said it has seen a strong pre-order period in the US. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra now account for 80% of current Samsung foldable phone purchases.

Galaxy Z Flip 8 and user upgrades

Samsung reported that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 continues to lower the barrier to entry: 30% of Galaxy Z Flip 8 buyers in the US are switching from other brands, with most of them first-time foldable owners. The company also said that more than three times as many Galaxy Z Flip owners are now upgrading to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra compared to last year’s model.

Samsung said it hopes Flip owners will eventually upgrade to a Fold, and it cited the upgrade data as evidence that its strategy is paying dividends, noting that buyers who are convinced about foldables often choose the more expensive Fold models right away.
