Has Apple Approved the Development of the iPhone Ultra 2?

Apple has reportedly given the green light for the development of its second-generation foldable iPhone, according to recent claims. The upcoming device, likely named “iPhone Ultra 2,” is expected to feature the same display technology as the first-generation model set to debut later this year. This initial foldable iPhone will incorporate a 7.8-inch OLED panel from Samsung, utilizing an innovative design that integrates the color-filtering layer directly into the display stack, resulting in a thinner, lighter, and more energy-efficient screen.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has indicated that Apple’s second-generation foldable iPhone is projected to launch in fall 2027, coinciding with the release of two 20th-anniversary models, potentially named iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max. Meanwhile, the development of the iPhone Air 3 remains uncertain, as it has not yet reached the prototype stage. Its future may hinge on the sales performance of the iPhone Air 2, expected in spring 2027, which promises enhancements such as a second camera and improved battery life. Despite the leaker’s track record, these details have yet to be officially confirmed by Apple.
