Has Lemonade Insurance agreed to a $10.5M settlement over a data breach?

Lemonade Insurance Co. has agreed to a $10.5 million settlement to address claims related to a data breach that compromised its online insurance quote system. The breach, which occurred between April 2023 and September 2024, exposed sensitive personal information such as driver’s license numbers. Although Lemonade has not admitted any wrongdoing, the company has agreed to the settlement to resolve the allegations. Affected consumers, who were notified about the breach, may receive up to $10,000 for documented losses linked to the incident. Additionally, class members are entitled to a cash fund payment, which will depend on the number of claims and the net settlement fund. They will also receive three years of credit monitoring and insurance services, including identity theft insurance coverage of up to $1 million and three-bureau credit monitoring. The deadline to exclude or object to the settlement is August 7, 2026, with the final approval hearing set for September 10, 2026. Claims must be submitted by September 8, 2026, to receive benefits.
