After losing its leading position in the global smartphone market to Apple last year, Samsung has made a strong comeback, reclaiming the top spot in the first quarter of 2026. This resurgence is primarily attributed to the successful launch of the Galaxy S26 series earlier this year. In the first quarter of 2026, Samsung shipped 65.4 million smartphones, securing a 22 percent market share, which marks an 8 percent increase compared to the previous year. The Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra models have significantly contributed to these impressive figures.
Apple, now in second place, shipped 60.4 million iPhones, capturing a 20 percent market share, an improvement from its 19 percent share last year. Meanwhile, Xiaomi, despite experiencing a 19 percent drop in shipments, managed to hold an 11 percent market share by shipping 33.8 million smartphones. OPPO, including its sub-brands OnePlus and Realme, shipped 30.7 million units, securing a 10 percent market share despite a 6 percent decline in shipments. Vivo, with a 7 percent market share, shipped 21.3 million smartphones, marking a 7 percent decrease compared to the previous year.
