How did Hungarian Kodesage secure €5.67M in funding with backing from xAI’s Christian Szegedy?

Hungarian-based Kodesage has successfully raised €5.67 million in a Seed round, led by Greek VentureFriends, to advance its on-premise AI platform designed to help enterprises modernize legacy software systems. The funding, which includes contributions from Pre-Seed lead investor Portfolion and notable angel investors such as Christian Szegedy, co-founder of xAI, and footballer Mario Götze, will support Kodesage’s expansion in the United States and Europe, as well as bolster its engineering and product teams. Established in 2024 by entrepreneurs Gergely Dombi, Miklos Szurdi, and Gyorgy Szilagyi, Kodesage aims to transform the way enterprises utilize information embedded within complex legacy software stacks. The platform facilitates automated deep discovery of codebases, generates living documentation, supports context-aware code conversion, automates test generation, and provides AI-powered production support. Targeting regulated industries such as banking and insurance, Kodesage offers a secure AI-powered modernization process that operates entirely within the customer’s environment, ensuring compliance with strict data residency requirements.
