Apple’s next low-cost iPad, referred to as the iPad 12, will ship with an A19 chip, 8GB of RAM, a C1X modem and an N1 networking chip, according to details found in Apple’s code by contributor Aaron Perris.
The current entry-level iPad uses an A16 chip and 6GB of RAM; the move to the A19 and 8GB RAM represents a clear performance upgrade. The A19 supports Apple Intelligence, meaning the iPad 12 will include Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features that the iPad 11 lacks, and the 8GB RAM meets the minimum requirement for those features while also improving general responsiveness.
iPad 12 hardware details
The C1X modem in the iPad 12 will support sub–6GHz 5G networks and is reported to be more power-efficient than the Qualcomm modem used in the existing iPad. The N1 networking chip adds support for Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. The code did not list color options, though new colors remain a possibility.
No release date was specified in the code; the iPad 12 is not expected until spring 2027. The current low-cost iPad starts at $449 after a June 2026 price hike, and the new model will likely retain the same starting price.
There is no low-cost iPad arriving this year, but a refreshed iPad mini is expected before the end of October. New details show the iPad mini will use an A20 Pro chip, include a new speaker system and adopt a landscape front-facing camera; prior rumors indicate an OLED display will be the main upgrade.
Official images were also found for the Apple TV 4K and the HomePod mini. The HomePod mini will be offered in green, pink, blue, white and black.
