Darden Restaurants is evaluating strategic options for its Caribbean-themed chain, Bahama Breeze, which may include selling the brand or converting its locations to other Darden brands. This decision comes after the closure of 15 Bahama Breeze restaurants in May, leaving only 28 operational. CEO Rick Cardenas stated that Bahama Breeze no longer aligns with Darden’s long-term strategy, and the company does not intend to invest further in the chain. Launched in the 1990s, Bahama Breeze is famous for its tropical-themed menu and ambiance. Following a strategic review, Darden concluded that the brand is not a future priority. Darden’s portfolio includes well-known names like Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse. The company expects sales growth of 7% to 8% for fiscal 2026, with a market capitalization of $26.06 billion as of Friday. This update was shared during Darden’s fourth-quarter earnings call.
