Is Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition coming to Apple Arcade on August 6?

Apple announces Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition for Apple Arcade on August 6 — a version built specifically for the service with seasonal structure and up‑to‑date NFL rosters. The title will be offered ad‑free with no in‑app purchases and includes Franchise and Quick Play modes.

Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition — a full Madden experience on Apple Arcade
Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition positions itself as a complete Madden experience for Apple Arcade, with player ratings tied to real‑world NFL performance. The Franchise mode features a weekly story engine that casts the player as a general manager: build and manage your roster, navigate emergent storylines, and keep fan support high in the pursuit of a championship. The game supports controllers on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.

New Retro Bowl entries and modes
Also arriving August 6 is Retro Bowl College+, a pixel‑art spin‑off that lets players take charge of one of 250 college programs. On September 3, NFL Retro Bowl ’27 adds a new Gauntlet Mode in which players aim to string together 15 consecutive wins while managing limited resources. Players will choose between safer matchups or high‑risk games that reward real NFL players and bonuses; progression carries over between runs—even after a loss—leading to a final showdown against a rival team.

Updates to other sports titles
Several existing Arcade sports games are getting updates:
– NBA 2K26 Arcade Edition adds Tyrese Maxey as a new Paragon player and extends the Association mode to include the 2016–2024 era.
– PGA TOUR 2K — Pro Golf expands its course roster with Bear’s Best Atlanta.
– Starting July 16, NFL Retro Bowl ’26 rolls out “Historic Super Bowl” challenges focused on some of the most memorable title games.

Free trials and Apple Arcade access
Apple notes several Arcade games can now be tried from the App Store without an Apple Arcade subscription, including PowerWash Simulator, Mini Motorways, Cooking Mama: Cuisine!, and Play‑Doh World. Apple Arcade remains a subscription service that provides ad‑free, no‑IAP access to hundreds of games across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro. In the U.S., the service is priced at $6.99 per month and is included with Apple One; games are available via the App Store and the Apple Games app.

With these announcements, Apple is beefing up its summer sports slate on Arcade, pairing a flagship NFL offering with Retro Bowl expansions and targeted updates across its sports portfolio to appeal to a range of players across the Apple ecosystem.
