Is Samsung adding a panic button to the SmartThings app for emergencies?

Samsung has introduced SmartThings Safe Premium, a new feature enhancing home safety and security. This premium service allows users to request emergency assistance directly through the SmartThings app. By pressing the Help button, users are connected to professional emergency services provided by Arlo, ensuring 24/7 response capabilities. Depending on the situation, Arlo’s monitoring team can dispatch police, fire, or medical services to the user’s location. The existing SmartThings Safe Basic Plan remains free, while the Premium version offers continuous professional emergency dispatch. When the Help button is activated, a 10-second countdown begins; if not canceled, a request is sent to a monitoring center. The team will then reach out via phone or text to assess the necessary response. If contact fails, local emergency responders will be dispatched using the phone’s GPS to determine the location.
