Is the Galaxy S21 FE next to lose updates?

The Galaxy S20 FE, Samsung’s inaugural Fan Edition smartphone, has officially concluded its software support journey. Launched in 2020, the S20 FE enjoyed a robust five-year tenure, receiving three major Android OS upgrades and consistent security updates. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21 FE, the series’ successor, remains in the clear for now. Recently updated with One UI 8 (Android 16), marking its last major OS upgrade, the S21 FE will continue to receive security updates for an estimated two more years. Currently on a monthly update cycle, the device is expected to shift to a quarterly schedule next year before its support concludes. Additionally, users can anticipate a One UI 8.5 update in 2026, promising visual and functional enhancements to maintain a fresh user experience. Interestingly, the S21 FE stands alone in the Galaxy S21 lineup in receiving Android 16, aligning its software support with the Galaxy S22 series. Therefore, Galaxy S21 FE users can confidently rely on their device for a couple more years, assured of ongoing security and usability.
