Is the ‘Tap to Share’ feature on iOS 27 missing in the EU?

iOS 27 introduces the innovative “Tap to Share” feature, enabling merchants to connect with customers’ devices through a simple NFC tap for seamless data exchange. This functionality is particularly beneficial for small business owners and vendors at local markets. Building on the existing Tap to Pay on iPhone feature, which allows merchants to accept contactless payments without additional hardware, Tap to Share enhances the user experience. It enables the sharing of contact details, shipping information, and Apple Wallet passes, as well as viewing carts and completing payments with Apple Pay, all during an active Tap to Pay session. However, this feature requires an iPhone 12 or newer and is currently unavailable in the European Economic Area, which includes all EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway. Apple has yet to clarify the reasons behind this limitation or provide a timeline for its availability in these regions.
