He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead a company focused on creating products that meet people’s needs. Cook, who succeeded Steve Jobs in 2011, will be succeeded by John Ternus, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, in September, coinciding with the launch of new iPhone models.
