One UI 9: Per-app zoom setting coming soon?

One UI 9 may soon let users set a custom zoom level for each app — a feature discovered in the stable firmware bundled with the brand’s new foldables. The find suggests Samsung is expanding One UI’s accessibility toolkit to give users finer control over how apps are displayed.

Un zoom adapté à chaque application (Per‑app zoom)
Currently, One UI’s accessibility options apply zoom and text-size settings globally, which isn’t always ideal for every app. Strings found in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra firmware reference a feature called “App screen zoom,” which would let users pick a distinct zoom level for individual applications.

Les niveaux proposés et leur comportement (Levels and behavior)
The zoom options listed range from “Smallest” to “Largest,” with intermediate settings labeled “Small,” “Medium,” and “Large,” plus a “System setting” option. Once a custom zoom is applied to an app, changing the system-wide zoom should no longer affect that app — it will keep its dedicated setting.

Ce que ça signifie pour l’accessibilité et l’ergonomie (Accessibility and ergonomics)
Per‑app zoom answers a practical need: some apps benefit from larger scaling for readability or one‑hand use, while others do not. This granularity should improve the experience for users with diverse accessibility requirements and for anyone who wants to tailor the display to different types of content.

Disponibilité attendue (Expected availability)
The feature isn’t visible on the review units shown to the media, which likely aren’t running the customer firmware. It could be enabled in the first patch or firmware update distributed after the new foldables begin commercial sales, currently expected on August 7.

For now, this is based on interface strings: their presence in One UI 9 indicates a per‑app zoom control is on the software roadmap, but whether it ships depends on activation in the final firmware.
