Samsung has broken ground on a $158 million facility in Gwangju, South Korea, to produce FläktGroup heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions. The move follows Samsung’s acquisition of Germany-based FläktGroup last year in a $1.68 billion deal and is intended to help expand Samsung’s share of the data center cooling market.
Samsung to boost HVAC production capacity
Samsung announced last month that it will invest $158 million to build a new HVAC production line in Gwangju. Construction is expected to be completed by 2028, with full-scale operations projected for 2028. The facility will have a total floor area of 21,800 square meters.
Samsung Electronics held a groundbreaking ceremony earlier today attended by TM Roh, the president and head of Samsung Electronics’ Device eXperience division, and Tobias Kettele, chief financial officer of FläktGroup.
