The surge in demand for AI-driven tools like ChatGPT and Copilot has led to increased reliance on AI accelerators, which heavily utilize high-bandwidth memory (HBM). This has driven up the demand for RAM, causing a significant spike in memory prices. Consequently, manufacturing costs for memory-intensive products like smartphones, tablets, and laptops have risen. Additionally, the cost of OLED display panels and camera modules is on the rise, compounded by increasing labor expenses and heightened marketing competition. As a result, many tech brands, including Samsung, are expected to hike prices, particularly for mid-range devices with lower profit margins. Samsung is reportedly set to raise prices for its Galaxy A series smartphones in India by up to INR 2,000, and the upcoming Galaxy S26 series is anticipated to debut at a higher price point than its predecessor.
