This pick combines Tableau Prep–style visual flows with an AI Transform Agent that writes the first draft and a governed warehouse to run the result. It is aimed at financial analysts, actuaries, operations analysts and other business users who want to build and fix their own prep flows without filing engineering tickets, at companies already running Databricks, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
How this Tableau Prep alternative works
The platform lets you describe the desired outcome in plain English and the Transform Agent builds a visual workflow on a canvas. Each step appears as its own box, or “gem” (Filter, Join, Pivot, FuzzyMatch, and so on), and most gems offer both a visual view and a code view. You can execute the flow up to any gem and profile interim data so null rates and top values appear before you trust a join. The agent cannot deploy changes on its own: a person must sign off on every change.
Under the canvas the workflow compiles to SQL and is stored in Git. Runs execute in your Databricks, Snowflake, or BigQuery account under your existing credentials and access controls, so data and compute remain under your organization’s governance. A built-in scheduler can run flows on a timer or trigger them when a file lands in S3 or SFTP, and it can send email notifications when a run starts, succeeds, or fails. For Tableau users, a TableauWrite gem publishes .hyper data sources to Tableau Server, a route the documentation describes as legacy.
Pricing and limitations
As of October 2026, Starter is free and includes 20 credits per month on an embedded DuckDB engine; Professional costs $150 per user per month; and Enterprise Express is $4,000 per month for up to 20 users, billed annually. Processing in Databricks, Snowflake, and BigQuery is available with the paid plans. Single sign-on (SSO), SCIM, audit logs and lineage begin at the Enterprise Express tier, so regulated teams that need those controls should budget for that level from the start.
