The upcoming iOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate updates will introduce enhanced drawing tools across Apple’s built-in apps on both iPhone and Mac. In iOS 27, the Messages app will feature a new “Drawing” option in the app drawer, accessible by tapping the plus sign in the bottom-left corner. Previously, older iOS versions offered a basic drawing tool that could be accessed via a button on the keyboard in landscape mode. Now, the full suite of Apple’s Markup tools will be integrated into the app. On macOS 27, these Markup tools will also be added to the Notes and Freeform apps. Currently available in developer beta, these updates are expected to be released to the public in September.
