The Samsung Galaxy Watch 9, set to debut in July 2026 alongside the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, marks the ninth generation of Samsung’s smartwatch lineup. This new model is anticipated to offer a refined design, enhanced health and fitness tracking, and improved battery life compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Watch 8.
Design-wise, the Galaxy Watch 9 is expected to maintain a circular display within a squircle-shaped Armor Aluminum 2 case, offering IP68 dust and water resistance and MIL-STD-810H durability. It will likely come in two display sizes, 1.34 and 1.47 inches, featuring a Super AMOLED display with peak brightness up to 3,000 nits and a 60Hz refresh rate, protected by Sapphire Crystal glass. The smartwatch will come with a 20mm silicone strap with a new quick-release mechanism, available in various colors.
For health and fitness enthusiasts, the Galaxy Watch 9 will include an array of sensors such as an accelerometer, altimeter, barometer, BIA sensor, compass, dual-band GPS, gyroscope, and optical heart rate sensor. Notably, it may introduce a Hearing Health feature to monitor ambient noise and earbud volume, alerting users to potentially harmful sound levels.
The smartwatch will run on Wear OS 7-based One UI 9 Watch, offering new watch faces, improved apps, and enhancements to the Now Bar. It is expected to receive four major Wear OS updates and security updates for five years.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Watch 9 will be powered by the Exynos W1000 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It will support dual-band GNSS, LTE on select models, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 6.0. Battery-wise, the 40mm model will house a 382mAh battery, while the 44mm version will have a 435mAh battery, both supporting 10W wireless charging.
Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Watch 9 on July 22, 2026, with preorders starting the same day in select markets.
