Apple has unveiled significant updates to Apple Podcasts, introducing video podcast playback on macOS and a revamped app for tvOS. Mac users can now enjoy an improved video podcast experience with Picture in Picture support, allowing them to watch episodes while multitasking. This update aligns the Mac version with the mobile experience, offering audio and video content, transcripts, timed links, and chapters.
On Apple TV, the Apple Podcasts app has been completely redesigned to support video podcast playback. It features a new sidebar navigation for easier browsing and accommodates podcast creators’ episode and show artwork, enhancing the discovery and enjoyment of video content on larger screens.
Additionally, a new search feature is being introduced across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, and the web. This tool allows users to search directly within a show’s episode list, simplifying the process of finding specific episodes without having to scroll through an entire catalog.
These updates are set to roll out this fall with the release of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, visionOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, and tvOS 27.
