Will the 20th Anniversary iPhone Feature Curved Edges with Haptic Buttons?

Apple is reportedly testing a new solid-state haptic button system for its 20th-anniversary iPhone, aiming to replace traditional mechanical buttons and create a seamless display design. These innovative buttons are said to function even with gloves, wet hands, extreme temperatures, or when the phone is encased. Additionally, a low-energy microprocessor could keep these buttons operational even if the phone is off or the battery is depleted. The device is expected to feature a curved display for an edge-to-edge visual experience, aligning with Apple’s vision of a sleek, uninterrupted glass design. Although similar button technology was rumored for previous models like the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro, those plans were reportedly shelved. Other anticipated features for the 2027 iPhone include a dual-layer OLED panel, under-display Face ID and camera, a 6,000mAh battery, reverse wireless charging, and an advanced Ceramic Shield. The release of this milestone iPhone is expected in the fall of 2027.
