Will the iPhone Air 2 See an 11% Boost in Battery Capacity?

Apple is reportedly developing a second-generation iPhone Air, set to debut in spring 2027, with a primary focus on enhancing battery life. Rumors suggest the iPhone Air 2 could feature a 3,500mAh battery, marking an approximately 11% increase from the current model’s 3,149mAh capacity. This boost may not necessitate a larger phone, as Apple might optimize internal packaging to accommodate a bigger battery within the existing design.

Additionally, Apple is rumored to address customer feedback by adding a second camera to the iPhone Air 2. The current model’s single Wide lens limits its photographic versatility compared to the more affordable iPhone 17. The new model is expected to include an Ultra Wide lens, requiring a significant redesign of the device’s internals to maintain battery space.

The iPhone Air 2 will incorporate the A20 chip, utilizing Apple’s advanced 2nm process for improved efficiency, potentially enhancing battery life regardless of capacity changes. Furthermore, the device may feature a thinner display, thanks to Samsung’s CoE OLED technology, potentially allowing for a larger battery while preserving the device’s dimensions. The iPhone Air 2 is anticipated to launch alongside the iPhone 18 and the budget-friendly iPhone 18e in the first half of 2027.
