Techstars is joining Carta Law as a launch partner for Carta Law Venture Financing, a new fixed-fee service that manages priced seed rounds from term sheet to close. The partnership aims to give Techstars portfolio companies a faster, more predictable route to priced financings with standard investor protections and cap table structure.
Many early-stage founders default to SAFEs because they are quick and inexpensive, but priced rounds provide clearer terms and a cleaner cap table. Priced rounds have traditionally been unpredictable and costly to close; founders can often spend $90K to $150K to complete a seed round. Carta Law Venture Financing addresses that gap by charging a single flat fee so founders know the cost of a standard financing before they begin.
Carta Law Venture Financing: what it covers
The offering covers the full seed financing workflow, including term sheet review, pro‑forma cap table modeling, preparation of financing documents, closing mechanics, state and federal securities filings, and cap table updates after the round closes. First drafts arrive within 24 hours, and founders work with one point of contact throughout the process.
Carta Law combines proprietary AI with an experienced startup attorney on every deal: the AI speeds and standardizes work, while an attorney reviews and signs off on documents. Carta processes roughly 75% of all VC priced rounds, and precedent from more than 55,000 transactions informs the documents Carta Law generates, producing terms that investors are familiar with and more likely to accept.
Once a round closes, the financing documents flow directly into the company’s Carta cap table, which then feeds its 409A valuation. That integration removes the need for founders to act as go-between among their lawyers, investors, and cap table provider.
Techstars says it is joining as a launch partner because the offering addresses a real pain point for the founders it backs. Techstars portfolio companies can access the Carta Law Venture Financing offering through perks.techstars.com. More information about the service is available at carta.com/law.
