Galaxy S27 Leaks: Samsung Tests Both Exynos 2700 and Snapdragon

Leaked tests show Samsung is actively testing the Galaxy S27 with both its own Exynos silicon and Qualcomm Snapdragon chips, although the exact regional or model split remains unknown.

Galaxy S27 testing: Exynos 2700 appears in Geekbench

A Galaxy S27 prototype running the Exynos 2700 appeared on Geekbench 6.7.1, scoring 4,328 points in single-core and 14,700 points in multi-core testing. These are early results and should not be treated as representative of final retail performance, but they confirm Samsung is testing its next-generation flagship processor.

Evidence of Snapdragon-based Galaxy S27 projects

A leaked Qualcomm project listing reportedly showed three Galaxy S27 projects tied to an unidentified SM8975 chipset: SS_SM8975_GS27_AP, SS_SM8975_GS27_KOR, and SS_SM8975_GS27_VZW. The entries could represent Snapdragon-powered versions for Asia-Pacific, South Korea, and Verizon in the US, respectively.

Samsung has long used a dual-chip strategy for its Galaxy S flagships, typically reserving Snapdragon for the Ultra model while base and Plus models vary by market. There is no concrete evidence yet of a market-specific Exynos-equipped Ultra, though rumors suggest the Exynos 2700 could appear in the Galaxy S27 Ultra in some regions.

Why Samsung might expand Exynos use

Early testing indicates the Exynos 2700 could match or even outperform Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon in CPU, GPU, AI, and power-efficiency areas. Putting Exynos into more Galaxy S27 units would increase chipset shipments for Samsung’s semiconductor business and could improve the economics of its in-house silicon. It could also give Samsung’s mobile division more leverage when negotiating with Qualcomm by providing a capable internal alternative. If the Exynos 2700 meets Samsung’s performance and efficiency requirements, there are business reasons for the company to expand its role.

Time will tell what Samsung ultimately decides.
