We’re halfway between the Galaxy S26 launch and the next Galaxy Unpacked event, and early rumors about the Galaxy S27 series — expected in January or February 2027 — are starting to pick up. For the first time, four Galaxy S27 phones are set to hit the market at the same time, and the top-tier Galaxy S27 Ultra may not only be pricier but could also adopt an unusual camera design, according to current leaks.
Samsung is reportedly focusing on finalizing these next camera-focused flagships, which are intended to replace the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Company decisions on final designs and specs are still in progress, and previous leaks and rumors have not been fully confirmed.
Galaxy S27 camera design speculation
One long-running theory, originally advanced by Ice Universe months ago, claimed Samsung would drop the 3x telephoto on the Galaxy S27 Ultra. That idea was recently questioned again, in part based on what has been described as fairly solid evidence. Separately, earlier hints about a new horizontal camera layout remain unconfirmed.
Meanwhile, a growing number of concept renders and mock-ups have circulated online. Both on Techdroider’s YouTube channel and among X users such as @thegalox_, wide camera bars and other dramatic modules have become especially popular in mock-ups — but there is no concrete evidence that Samsung will adopt such a drastic design change.
Ice Universe continues to insist that a quad-camera setup will be a thing of the past, while Samsung reportedly continues to evaluate options for the final Galaxy S27 designs and pricing decisions.
