Health app redesigned in iOS 27.2 beta with Insights and Longevity

Apple is testing a redesigned Health app in the iOS 27.2 beta that introduces new Insights and Longevity tabs to surface more of a user’s health and fitness metrics.

Health app Insights, data and readiness score

The Insights tab displays recent health data such as Activity Rings, heart rate, sleep score and vitals. Apple says the tab will eventually include personalized guidance, but that feature has not been added yet. Owners of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 will see a readiness score derived from recent activity, vitals and sleep score to help decide whether to take a recovery day or push harder.

Longevity tab, Health Age and assessments

The Longevity tab evaluates health data over time to calculate a Health Age using measures like activity level, VO2 max, sleep time and other metrics. It also supports fitness assessments performed on the iPhone to check flexibility, balance and VO2 max. Apple plans to offer a $119 laboratory panel from Quest Diagnostics that will contribute to the Health Age calculation; until that option is available, users can upload recent lab results.

Requirements and release timing

Getting the most out of the redesigned Health app requires an Apple Watch or another fitness device that integrates with the app. Although the app is being tested in the iOS 27.2 beta, it will not be included in the iOS 27.2 release and will instead launch later this year.
