Is Samsung planning to launch a smartphone with a rollable screen?

Over recent years, Samsung Display has introduced a variety of innovative display panels, including dual-folding, rollable, and stretchable designs. Despite this, Samsung has so far only incorporated foldable OLED panels into its smartphones. Looking ahead, the company reportedly aims to release a smartphone featuring a rollable screen. Discussions are said to be underway for Samsung Display to provide rollable OLED panels to Samsung MX for a potential launch in the first half of 2028. This new device is expected to coincide with the tenth anniversary of Samsung’s foldable smartphone series. According to market analysis, the rollable phone may include a 10-inch OLED screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 440ppi, making it particularly suited for productivity and media consumption, thus bridging the gap between a phone and a tablet. An executive from Samsung Electronics has indicated that the development of a rollable phone is ongoing, with a high likelihood of utilizing Samsung Display panels.
