Is Samsung upgrading the Galaxy S27’s selfie camera to 16MP?

Samsung is set to enhance its flagship phones with a 16MP selfie camera in the upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra models, moving away from the long-standing 12MP sensor. This new square sensor design allows for a wider field of view and versatile cropping for both portrait and landscape orientations, a feature that has been well-received in the iPhone 17 series.

In addition to the front camera upgrade, both models will feature a 50MP telephoto and a 50MP ultrawide camera. The S27 Pro, a new addition to the lineup, aims to deliver Ultra-grade features in a more compact form, boasting a 6.47-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor, at least 12GB of RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery with 60W wired charging.

Samsung’s Privacy Display is expected to return, and the S27 series will likely introduce the faster UFS 5.0 storage, enhancing on-device AI functions with improved read and write speeds. Pricing details remain under wraps, but the Pro model is anticipated to be priced between $1,099 and $1,199, directly competing with the iPhone 17 Pro. A launch event is expected in early 2027, following the pattern of previous releases.
