A leaked image asset found in the latest update to Samsung’s Nearby Devices app suggests One UI 9.5 could introduce dedicated dark-mode app icons that automatically switch when Dark Mode is enabled. The asset offers a first look at a long-awaited visual tweak.
Samsung has not yet started rolling out the stable One UI 9.0 update to devices launched before the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 series.
One UI 9.5: darker icons shown in leaked asset
The leaked image depicts stock icons for Gallery, Messages, My Files and Phone with deep black backgrounds and colorful foreground accents. Under this design, default app icons would switch to dark variants whenever Dark Mode is active, a change from One UI 9.0 where enabling Dark Mode leaves system app icons unchanged.
If implemented in One UI 9.5, the darker app icons would make the home screen visually more consistent with Dark Mode and easier on the eyes at night.
