Samsung has unveiled a compact, ultra-dense 256TB SSD aimed at data center deployments, introducing the BM1773 at the Global Memory Innovation Forum 2026 in Shenzhen, China. The company also presented a second next-generation enterprise drive, the PM1763.
The BM1773 is an ultra-high-density QLC SSD offered in capacities up to 256TB and packaged in the compact E3.S form factor. Samsung positions the drive for data center servers that require very large, space-efficient storage.
256TB SSD technical details
Under the hood, the BM1773 uses Samsung’s 9th-generation high-density NAND flash, identified as V9Q 2Tb, and operates across a 16-channel PCIe 5.0 architecture. The drive delivers sequential read speeds of up to 4.5GB/s and random write performance up to 50K IOPS.
Compared with previous-generation QLC drives, the BM1773 doubles total bytes written (TBW) endurance and is rated for 0.6 drive writes per day (DWPD). Samsung announced the BM1773 alongside the PM1763 as part of its next-generation enterprise drive lineup showcased at the event.
