Siri AI on iOS 27 Requires a Waitlist — How to Sign Up

Apple released iOS 27 this week, but the all‑new Siri AI and the dedicated Siri app are not instantly available to all users: you must join Apple’s waitlist to gain access, and Siri AI is limited to iPhone 15 Pro and newer models that support Apple Intelligence.

Siri AI Availability and Waitlist

To join the Siri AI waitlist on an iPhone running iOS 27, open the Settings app, go to the Siri menu, tap Try Siri AI (Beta) and follow the on‑screen prompts. Wait times vary: some users receive access within minutes, while others wait hours or days. You will receive a notification when access is granted and the Siri app will automatically appear on your device.

Although iOS 27 is compatible with the iPhone 11 and newer, Siri AI requires an iPhone model compatible with Apple Intelligence. The following iPhone models are listed as compatible with Siri AI:

• iPhone 18 Pro
• iPhone 18 Pro Max
• iPhone Duo
• iPhone 17e
• iPhone 17
• iPhone 17 Pro
• iPhone 17 Pro Max
• iPhone Air
• iPhone 16e
• iPhone 16
• iPhone 16 Plus
• iPhone 16 Pro
• iPhone 16 Pro Max
• iPhone 15 Pro
• iPhone 15 Pro Max

Siri AI is not available in the EU on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and watchOS 27 at launch, as Apple is engaged in a regulatory dispute with the European Commission.

How to Use Siri AI and What It Can Do

Once enabled, you can talk or type to Siri AI by swiping down on the iPhone’s Dynamic Island, pressing and holding the side button, or opening the Siri app. Apple describes Siri AI as much more intelligent and personalized than classic Siri — essentially a ChatGPT‑like version of the assistant that can answer most questions, draw on personal information stored on your iPhone, has on‑screen awareness, and can perform actions in more apps that support it.

Siri AI is limited to English at launch. Apple said support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish will arrive in October, likely with iOS 27.1. Apple also noted unspecified daily usage limits for Siri AI and said expanded access will be offered with select iCloud+ plans.

You can adjust Siri AI’s pace and expressivity on the following iPhone models:

• iPhone 18 Pro
• iPhone 18 Pro Max
• iPhone Duo
• iPhone 17 Pro
• iPhone 17 Pro Max
• iPhone Air

Apple continues to classify Siri AI as being in beta even though iOS 27 itself is no longer in beta overall.
