Apple has introduced several health and fitness updates in iOS 27, despite rumors of an AI health service being scrapped prior to the beta release. The Health app now features a redesigned Browse section with a card-style interface for easier navigation, alongside a unified bottom navigation bar. Visual Intelligence introduces a nutrition feature that provides insights into food items via Siri mode in the Camera app, requiring an iPhone 15 Pro or later. The Cycle Tracking feature now includes support for perimenopause and menopause, offering notifications based on logged cycle patterns and educational resources. Apple has also enhanced Fitness+ with workouts tailored for these stages. Child Safety enhancements offer parents more control over their children’s content, based on expert health research. Improvements in route and distance accuracy enhance workout tracking, while step counts now sync seamlessly between Health and Fitness apps. GymKit compatibility has been extended to iPhones, allowing users to sync data with exercise equipment without an Apple Watch. iOS 27 is currently available to developers, with a public beta expected in July and a full release in the fall.
