Apple October 13 launch: Home Hub, HomePod mini, Apple TV 4K

Apple is planning to introduce new products on Tuesday, October 13, Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak announced. The company will not hold a traditional event: some members of the media have been invited to New York City for hands‑on time, while others are likely to learn about the devices via press releases on launch day. The NYC visits begin at 9:00 a.m. on the 13th, which may coincide with the product announcements. A video shared by Joswiak points to home‑focused hardware; at least three new devices are expected, including one all‑new product.

Apple October 13 launch: a new Home Hub and updates for home devices

A new Home Hub is expected to be the all‑new product. Reported details describe a 6‑inch display offered in two variants: a wall‑mounted model and a model that pairs with a half‑dome speaker base. Siri AI is described as central to the hub, which will run a version of tvOS that could be called homeOS and include familiar Apple apps and widgets. The hub is designed to act as a central home device, showing family members upcoming calendar events and other personalized information, and providing control for connected smart‑home devices.

The hub will display the time when idle, be customizable with chosen widgets and apps, and include a camera for video calls and to play video content such as recipes. Presence sensors and the camera will reportedly detect which family member is nearby and present a custom interface for each person, using facial recognition for identification. Pricing could start at around $350, and Apple envisions users placing multiple hubs in their homes.

HomePod mini refresh

The HomePod mini is expected to receive a refresh with new color options and a faster processor. It is also said to include an N1 networking chip supporting Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. The refreshed HomePod mini is expected to offer new Siri AI features.

Apple TV 4K upgrade

The Apple TV 4K is reported to gain an upgraded chip—possibly the A19 or A19 Pro—and larger RAM options of either 8GB or 12GB. Like the other home devices, it is said to include the N1 networking chip for Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread, and to provide a full Siri AI experience.

Other possibilities and an October 27 follow‑up

Apple is expected to hold a separate product launch on October 27 for new Macs and an OLED iPad mini. The iPad mini is said to receive a major upgrade with an OLED display, improved waterproofing and a faster chip, and is expected to be more expensive. Apple is also reportedly planning an OLED touchscreen MacBook—possibly a MacBook Pro or a new MacBook “Ultra”—featuring M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, a new display and a thinner, lighter design; this device is described as a premium product likely to cost more than current 14‑inch and 16‑inch high‑end MacBook Pro models. Additional devices mentioned include an M6 iMac and a possible 14‑inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip before year end.

We will provide full coverage of Apple’s announcements on the 13th and share last‑minute rumors ahead of the launch.
