Instagram on Apple TV: App Adds Reels, Longer Videos and Live Shows

Instagram is now available on Apple TV, bringing Reels, longer videos and live shows to the streaming device for the first time. The app lets users watch content from their favorite creators, discover videos and resume viewing across devices, and Instagram describes it as a way to watch together with friends and family.

Apple’s TV-specific release metadata dates version 66.0 to October 23, indicating the app appears to have launched that day. An archived App Store listing from October 19 still showed compatibility only with the iPhone and iPad.

Instagram on Apple TV: features and rollout

The Apple TV app’s description lists Reels alongside longer videos and live shows, reflecting plans Meta outlined in June to expand beyond short clips to longer creator content, episodic series and live broadcasts. Instagram first tested a TV app on Amazon Fire TV devices in the United States in December 2025, expanded testing to Google TV in February 2026 and to Samsung smart TVs in June. The initial experience focused on Reels organized into channels based on viewers’ interests, with videos playing automatically.

The release follows Instagram’s dedicated iPad app, which arrived in September 2025 after years of requests for an interface designed for Apple’s tablets. Instagram is now available on the Apple TV App Store and requires tvOS 26.0 or later.
