Tap to Share is coming to Quick Share on Samsung Galaxy devices, allowing users to share photos, videos, contacts, website links and more simply by tapping one Galaxy device against another.
Hints of the feature first appeared in leaked One UI 9 firmware for the Galaxy S26 series. It was expected to be available on the new foldables out of the box—since they ship with Android 17—but that did not happen immediately. Samsung plans to add the capability soon.
Tap to Share: how it works
When two Galaxy devices are tapped together on the home screen, contact information will transfer immediately. To send photos, videos or other content, users must open the item, tap the Share button, then tap the two devices together to begin the transfer. This mirrors how Tap to Share works on Google’s Pixel devices, including the Pixel 11 lineup. The Pixel 11 series, announced on August 12, is the first to receive the feature, and the Galaxy implementation is expected to operate similarly.
Availability and rollout
Devices older than the Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8 and Flip 8 will require the Android 17/One UI 9 update before they can use Tap to Share. One UI 9 is currently in beta for the Galaxy S26 series, and the beta program is expected to expand to more devices. The stable One UI 9 update is unlikely to begin rolling out before September.
